Luxury Chocolate Easter Eggs For 2026

Chocolate Chimes With Easter Time And Consumers Want Quality

By Tim EllisPublished about 6 hours ago 3 min read

Easter is the season where the summer edges closer and optimism is easier to engage. Chocolate is the star of the food show during the spring as brands push out ever more daring designs that reflect demanding consumer trends.

Luxury chocolate is at the top of the list. Buyers seek more authentic flavors with high cacao content and a more sensual, artisanal experience. The days of a flimsy shell with little imagination are over. Creative chocolate that cracks the taste test and oozes escapism is attracting buyers.

Take the super-size shells that dominate the market now. Chocolate Easter Eggs now resemble mini igloos with their enlarged hollows. Friars’ classic Luxury Milk Chocolate Egg is a case in point. The 'luxury' is also inside the shell with a selection of raspberry, vanilla and hazelnut praline truffle eggs. The treasure trove of bonus sweets as a sweetener to the main event is all part of the fun.

The modern mega egg sometimes weighs in at a kilogram, which is a heavyweight thought. Hotel Chocolat was one of the first to break out of the conventions of how Easter Eggs should be made. The company has always had that sense of mischievous creativity allied to a very high quality of product.

The Exuberantly Fruity Extra-Thick Easter Egg is a case in point. It’s a playful theme, but a seriously premium product with a shell that could resist a hammer. This one comprises cacao strawberry-white chocolate intertwined with 40% milk for a delicious contrast.

Away from their significant frontline Egg army, Hotel Chocolat also do the side menu very well indeed. The child in every adult will also fall in love with a selection of those mid-priced items aimed at the age of innocence. There’s the Egg On My Face Chocolate Slab, the very un-corporate Milk Chocolate City Easter Bunnies and the Chocolate Spread Easter Sandwich. The clue is in the title: it's fun, but seriously good chocolate.

In terms of premium providers, Venchi is an Italian brand that is almost 150 years old and one of the most decorated chocolatiers globally. Their Gran Gourmet Pistachio Egg ticks a few boxes, especially with the juxtaposition of sweet and savoury. The Pistachio Egg is made with white chocolate but enriched with pistachio paste and then layered with lightly salted pistachios on the inside.

The Other Gran designs include Extra Dark Hazelnut and Salted Hazelnut. Venchi is all about the art of chocolate and is one of those providers that pop up on high streets to draw the customer in to an Easter Egg escape room.

Neuhaus is one of the most respected Belgian chocolatiers and produces something like 500 million pralines every year. It’s therefore not surprising to find out that within their Big Easter Egg, there are 30 standout chocolates with praline, ganache or gianduja with a central line of small Easter eggs making up the package.

There’s more than a nod to nature here with the design and ambience of the presentation, with a soft hue of seasonal colour on the gift box. Neuhaus is very much an artisan product, and the chocolates are intended as gifts. One of the new standouts for 2026 is the handcrafted Ballotoeuf Nutpaste, which presents as a crunchy nougatine shell coated in gianduja, boxed in a floral green packaging that elevates the experience.

Although a recent report by Wells Fargo showed that cocoa prices have tumbled recently, the only downside to the gourmet treats waiting for the April rush is that retail prices remain high as retailers buy well in advance. The Easter bunny will at least deliver on quality.
