Daughter's Art Gift

To honor my healing journey

Gifts don’t have to be materialistic,

they can be emotional.

When my daughter was five, in preschool,

she made something for me.

I had once told her,

before she was born, I was unwell,

and chose to cycle around the leafy neighborhood,

under the sun, as a way to heal.

I would stop under trees,

listen to birdsong, buzzing bees,

and admire flowers.

more layers of healing.

She had heard me mindfully,

and remembered it.

So, she made that,

to honor that decision, that healing ritual.

I had tears in my eyes,

happy tears of gratitude,

for a kind little kid,

who values the love she receives,

and wants to pay back.
