Today, yet again

I woke up in the land of the living

Filled with gratitude and thanksgiving

Someone lay down last night

And from their bed they did not rise

I lift my hands to heaven and look towards the skies

I dressed and fed myself

Was able to put one foot in front of the other

Understanding this small victory was not granted to another

Soundness of mind and activity of limbs

Longevity of life is not guaranteed

I once took for granted these daily abilities

Now, each year that passes

Every morning that I rise

These small victories seem greater in my eyes
