They lean in when you speak, half afraid, half needing,

Their questions heavy with things they will not say aloud,

And you sit there, calm, like storms have no hold on you,

Like you have walked through shadows and made them listen.

Spirit reader, they call you, with trembling curiosity,

As if naming it makes it safer, smaller, contained,

But I see the way your hands rest, still but knowing,

As if they have touched things that do not belong here.

Are you a witch, they ask, like it is an accusation,

Like power must be feared if it cannot be explained,

But you do not answer, not directly, not simply,

Because truth is never clean enough for easy words.

You speak of energy, of echoes left behind,

Of voices that cling to places, to people, to pain,

And the room grows quieter with every sentence,

As if something else is listening through you.

Do they follow you when the candles burn low,

Do they reach for you when the world goes still,

Do you carry them, the stories, the unfinished endings,

Or do they carry you, further from the living.

Spirit reader, witch, something unnamed in between,

You stand where most would turn away and run,

And whether it is gift, or burden, or something darker,

You are not afraid to see what others refuse.

So let them whisper their questions behind your back,

Let them fear what they secretly seek,

Because you have already crossed that quiet boundary,

And returned with answers they are not ready to hear.
