A Look Ahead to Year Four of Thursday Night Football on Amazon Prime
As I mentioned before in my piece about this year's Sunday Night Football matchups, I am writing about the 2025 schedule in bits and pieces. The SNF piece was first, and for this installment, it's Thursday Night Football that is the focus. I've watched football since I was seven, and back then, I had been used to NFL games airing on Sundays, Mondays, and some Saturdays. The only Thursday football back then was, of course, Thanksgiving, and it was always two games: a Lions game and a Cowboys game.

"Beyond the Gates" Week 14 Review
So Beyond the Gates started the fourteenth week of existence a day late. Why? Monday was Memorial Day. So the show actually aired a rerun for the first time in its short existence. The show has had quite a few preemptions already. The first one was caused by March Madness, which is understandable. After all, it's March Madness. Then there's the preemptions due to UEFA Soccer, and that bugged me a bit, because while BTG was preempted, CBS affiliates were somehow able to air new episodes of The Young and the Restless and The Bold and the Beautiful. Hmmm.

Sequel: 2025 Stanley Cup Final Preview
Second verse, same as first. After a wild NHL season where 32 teams played for the same hopes and the same goal, it all comes down to just two teams. And after all of the dust settled, it's the same two teams as last year. For the first time since 2009, we have a repeat Stanley Cup Final, as the Florida Panthers and the Edmonton Oilers will again battle it out in the ultimate series for the right to hoist Lord Stanley's Cup. I have a feeling that this will top last year; sequels usually surpass the originals.

I Tell Ya What: An Early Look at the Anticipated "King of the Hill" Revival
At long last, the King of the Hill revival series is closing in! News of a reboot of the hit animated series started about three years ago, and it definitely gained my attention. The buzz increased as time passed, with more and more proverbial fruit growing from the seeds that were planted. The revival became official in January 2023, and finally, on May 30, 2025, the last piece of the puzzle was announced. It had been long established that Hulu would pick up the revived series, but the premiere date wasn't known until now: August 4, 2025.

What Went Wrong: You Reap What You Sow
Karma's a bitch, Dallas. Not as big of a bitch as your coach, though. The Dallas Stars' 2025 playoff run saw the referees do everything possible to make sure they got far. In Round 1, they handed out power plays to Dallas in the same fashion that Oprah was handing out cars, falling for every dive and acting job the stars committed, while actual penalties against Dallas went ignored. Round 2 was more of the same, though it also helped Dallas that Connor Hellebuyck was in Jekyll and Hyde mode in that six-game series.

A Look at the 1957 Detroit Lions
We are relatively close to another NFL season; the Schedule Release is that last key NFL date during the offseason before the Hall of Fame Game (the first NFL preseason game) starts. This year marks a milestone, as the Super Bowl will turn 60 this season. I had been meaning to do more in-depth looks at NFL championship runs, and the first one I wrote was about the Chicago Cardinals' 1947 run to their most recent championship to date--the longest current championship drought in pro sports.

What Went Wrong: Category Zero
You know, I think it's high time that we take the Carolina Hurricanes down from that pedestal. I've been questioning how open Carolina's Cup window has been for about two years now. The Hurricanes made their seventh straight appearance in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, and when the streak began in 2019, it saw them upset the defending champs and sweep their way to the Final Four. It ended there, but still, the window was wide open. Some exits during the COVID-affected years, and a second-round exit in 2022 kept that window open. Then 2023 happened. It was a year of upsets. Carolina went to the Conference Finals. This was their best chance, but they were swept by the Florida Panthers.

Analyzing the Growing Concern Centered on the Voice Cast of "The Simpsons". Top Story - May 2025.
We all love The Simpsons, don't we? It's the ultimate cross-generational show. I grew up with this show in the 1990s, and even now, it's still on and obliterating that bar set by William Hanna and Joseph Barbera's The Flintstones back in the 1960s. The Simpsons is the ultimate primetime animated series; has been for decades now. I'm barely old enough to remember when the series aired on Thursdays. It's been a Sunday night series for 30 years now.

"Beyond the Gates" Week 13 Review
As I said a couple of weeks prior when I recapped the moment that Leslie decided to proverbial burn it down to the ground, it does feel like we are now in the early stages of a new series of angles. We see this in wrestling as well; angles that last about two or three months come to an end, and new angles begin. In this case, the last two weeks have dealt with the aftermath of that birthday celebration, and so far, it's been quite interesting.

2025 Conference Finals Preview
32 teams started this journey in October. 16 qualified for the Stanley Cup Playoffs, and at exactly one month in to this wonderful annual madness, we are now down to the final four teams remaining. I've said this many times before; I absolutely love the last round before the championship, because the pomp and circumstance increases. In every one of the main leagues, whether it's the League Championship Series in baseball, the Conference Championships in the NFL, or the Conference Finals in the NBA and NHL, there is always an aura. Trophies are awarded at the end of the penultimate round of each sport's playoffs, and regarding the NHL's trophies, I'll get to those later.

What Went Wrong: The Toronto Screwjob
Canada is doomed to be a magnet for screwjobs. First Bret Hart in Montréal, and now, the Toronto Maple Leafs were screwed over on their home ice. The refs really did their best to hand Florida this series. As soon as the Leafs went up 2-0 in the series, the refs really got to work in Games Three and Four. No penalties called on Florida. Panthers getting away with so much obvious shit. The result: a 2-2 series tie entering Game Five, which the Leafs were blasted in. Now, Game Five's not on the refs; the Leafs did not play well. But Game Six proved that when the refs are actually unbiased, the Leafs win.
