The commission was done, but something seemed missing – and I knew it was more than the absence of my artist signature in the right-hand bottom corner. I narrowed my eyes and continued to peer at the image I’d created – the morphing edges of grey, black, and white somehow seeming to shift across the page as I stared back at it.
