Merriam Webster - Word of the day: Tranche refers to a division or portion of a whole.
World Contact Day is commemorated every year on March 15. It is a unique observance held globally to focus on communicating with extraterrestrial life and exploring the possibility that intelligent beings may exist beyond Earth.
World Contact Day inspires people to invoke their curiosity and spend time thinking about the universe and the mysteries surrounding it.
What is the “Ides of March”? According to the Roman calendar, the Ides are a monthly occurrence. In March and other months with 31 days, the Ides always falls on the 15th; it falls on the 13th in months with 30 days. The Ides traditionally marked the arrival of the new Moon and was cause for celebration. The word “Ides” is derived from Latin, meaning “to divide.”
Mothering Sunday in 2026 falls on Sunday, March 15. Mothering Sunday, celebrated in the United Kingdom and Ireland, occurs on the fourth Sunday of Lent, which is exactly three weeks before Easter. Unlike the fixed-date Mother's Day in countries like the United States, Canada, and Australia, Mothering Sunday’s date changes each year according to the Christian liturgical calendar.
On March 15, 2026, several notable observances and events are celebrated:
Dumbstruck Day: A day to express frustration.
Everything You Think is Wrong Day: A day to challenge and celebrate wrong beliefs.
International Day Against Police Brutality: A day to raise awareness and advocate against police violence.

that line "my eyes felt light" and all of the meanings behind it- this is an incredible poem and so powerful.
This powerful piece captures a moment of intense vulnerability and liberation with stark imagery and raw emotion, evoking a sense of strength and resilience, love it, thank you very much for sharing!
Oh my..that was powerful. Excellent work.
I thought they got killed at first! Glad they got away
Thank goodness! I am glad this poem had such a nice ending. Good luck in the challenge!
Oh my goodness. That turned from hell to heaven so smoothly! Love it!
Well that was unexpected... Nicely done Rock!
I love that the absence of pronouns in your poem shows that abuse goes both ways. Men can abuse women and vice versa. Loved it!
Sometimes a break up is a lot like making a run for your life! Terrifying poem, Rock! Great work!
Scary scene and you did very well at writing it.
You captured such an intense scene in this! Very well done!
Incredibly powerful poem here, Rock. The opening is so intense and the ending so calm. I loved the contrast!
I appreciated the way you made this feel like heart beats or gun shots or both, just hammering the story into me. Bravo, well done, my friend :)
Everything about this is stunning. The brute physicality of the opening lines in contrast with the almost ethereal release of the second half. That powerful last word, connecting so meaningfully with the first line seeking escape. The bookend images that frame the essence of the story. You take something so ugly and transform it into a work of beauty.
Heartfelt.
Terrible scene rendered beautifully.
I hope you are free and hear real birds sing , my two recent poems were about birds. Excellent entry
