March 15, 2026
Merriam Webster - Word of the day: Tranche refers to a division or portion of a whole. World Contact Day is commemorated every year on March 15. It is a unique observance held globally to focus on communicating with extraterrestrial life and exploring the possibility that intelligent beings may exist beyond Earth. World Contact Day inspires people to invoke their curiosity and spend time thinking about the universe and the mysteries surrounding it. What is the “Ides of March”? According to the Roman calendar, the Ides are a monthly occurrence. In March and other months with 31 days, the Ides always falls on the 15th; it falls on the 13th in months with 30 days. The Ides traditionally marked the arrival of the new Moon and was cause for celebration. The word “Ides” is derived from Latin, meaning “to divide.” Mothering Sunday in 2026 falls on Sunday, March 15. Mothering Sunday, celebrated in the United Kingdom and Ireland, occurs on the fourth Sunday of Lent, which is exactly three weeks before Easter. Unlike the fixed-date Mother's Day in countries like the United States, Canada, and Australia, Mothering Sunday’s date changes each year according to the Christian liturgical calendar. On March 15, 2026, several notable observances and events are celebrated: Dumbstruck Day: A day to express frustration. Everything You Think is Wrong Day: A day to challenge and celebrate wrong beliefs. International Day Against Police Brutality: A day to raise awareness and advocate against police violence. My look at today, March 15, 2026 below:

Writing To Succeed
If you want to find something that will help readers find your writing, possibly expand your audience, and maybe even get you noticed for other things, then you’re not alone. But how can you get it done in a world full of want-to-be writers? Look less at what you’re writing now, and more at what other writers have used to boost their views and reads.

Boundless
A geographical map could take you there. To the places I've been, to the sights I've seen, to the landscapes I've climbed. But no compass could point you in the direction of my memories. To the experiences I've lived, to the happiness I've felt, to the wonder I've held so close to my heart.

When Amazon Says You’re a Disappointment
Yesterday, for the first Wednesday in months, I didn’t publish a piece on Vocal. Believe me, I wanted to. I had it all written up and ready to go. I was going to share the news that I had officially become a published author.

When USCIS Requests More Evidence in an Immigration Case
When U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services issues a Request for Evidence, applicants often feel uncertain about what the notice means for their case. An RFE does not mean a petition will automatically be denied. It simply indicates that the agency needs additional information before reaching a final decision. When the requested documentation is provided clearly and accurately, many cases move forward successfully.

The Benefits of Writing Porn. Content Warning.
I’m here today to talk about how writing porn (erotica, romance, whatever you call writing that readers derive sexual pleasure from) enhances and improves other writing. It does this in multiple ways, if you have the ovaries or cajones to really go for it. I can hear the Pollyannas clutching their pearls from here, see the shocked, judgmental looks aimed like lasers at me for daring to put romance as a parenthetical of porn (which is where it belongs).
